South Bay Economic Forecast Optimistic for Carson

First localized study prepared in partnership with CSUDH

The first economic forecast focused on the South Bay in recognition of the importance and economic power of this area was prepared in partnership with Cal State Dominguez Hills to underscore the critical role of higher education in preparing a workforce for the region.  Data collection and analysis was performed by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC).

Highlights of the CSUDH South Bay Forecast 2015-2016:

Carson was among the five largest cities in the South Bay which saw an increase in population, with the city still slightly below its pre-recession peak.

Employment in the South Bay increased, exceeding pre-recession peaks for the second year in a row, and projections are for continued growth.

In terms of South Bay business revenues, Carson is among the top three cities in the key sectors of Manufacturing, Wholesale Trade, Retail Trade and Transportation & Warehousing, and overall among South Bay cities.
